Thank God for gondolas!

Ha! Yesterday I was complaining about running up hills and today Amy convinced me to climb a mountain!!

She was a little put out by the "no smoking" rule.

So, after waiting almost 2 hours in the passport office. Amy and I set out for Grouse Mountain. I had decided to take the day off running. So, why not do the thing I loathe? Hike the Grouse Grind.  Here are a few facts about the infamous “Grind”

Length: 2.9 kilometres (1.8 miles)
Elevation Gain: 853 metres (2,800 feet)
– Base: 274 metres above sea level (900 feet)
– Summit: 1,127 metres (3,700 feet)
– Total Stairs: 2,830
Statistics: Annually, over 100,000 people hike the Grind™.
Average Time: On average it takes up to an hour and a half to complete the hike.
For novice hikers, up to two hours is recommended.
Participants: Hikers range in age from 7 to 90, with an equal male/female split.

Don't be too jealous of my fanny pack 😉

Ok, so maybe we veered off and took the BCMC, but it is the same elevation gain. Maybe not as straight up and it is definitely not as busy, which had a lot to do with our decision to try the other trail for the first time. We pretty much had it all to ourselves.

ok ... so, maybe we shared it with this guy.

It turned out to be a great hike and we finished around 1:30 min. We contemplated having a beer at the top but instead basked in the amazing view of Vancouver from the top of Grouse while enjoying a chocolate milk.

What a view!!! I love this City!!

Tomorrow maybe a short run or a trip to the Gypsy Market.  Who knows? All I know is that my day shall be free of hills and mountains!!! SB

Loving the fanny pack! I’ve never done the BCMC trial but it looks much nicer. May have to check that one out next time.
